The scheme is returning after enjoying success in the summer
With schools soon to close for the October half-term, Warburtons and Morrisons are once again teaming up to bring back ‘Ask for Ellen’ across all the supermarket’s cafes. As part of this year’s National Crumpet Week celebrations, from next week, everyone and anyone, both adults and children, can ‘Ask for Ellen’ at any Morrisons Cafe to receive two toasted crumpets, with butter and jam for free.
The offer will be available all day from Monday, October 23 to Sunday, November 5 - while stock lasts. There are several Morrisons stores dotted around Merseyside including in New Brighton, Belle Vale, Speke and Kirkby.READ MORE: Mum opened message from her 'friend' and went straight to the police The initiative, which aims to give a little support to families throughout the holiday period, is back following its success during the school summer holidays - which saw 200,000 portions of ‘Ask for Ellen’ crumpets enjoyed by families across the UK. The initiative is named after Warburton’s founder, Ellen Warburton.
Research from the Warburtons Foundation revealed that 58% of parents of school-aged children deal with added financial pressures over the holidays - contending with additional childcare costs juggling work and activities for kids. Jonathan Warburton, chairman of Warburtons, added: “We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our Ask for Ellen initiative this summer and surpassed our target by giving out 200,000 portions of crumpets nationwide. We know many households are still feeling the squeeze due to the cost of living crisis which is why we wanted to team up again with Morrisons to offer a little support to families throughout the break.
