These competitive videogamers are out to change the esports industry. They're also all over 60.

On a chilly night last October, volunteers outside a convention center on the outskirts of Paris were busy prepping for the opening night of Paris Games Week, an annual videogame consumer show that draws about 350,000 attendees.

When the doors opened, a crowd surged forward. Almost everyone looked under 30, dressed in the uniform of videogame conventions: skin-tight black jeans, Converse sneakers and some kind of pop culture t-shirt. Onstage, an MC announced the imminent arrival of the Silver Snipers, the esports team everyone had come to see. Cheers and whoops drowned out the pop music blaring from the loudspeakers.

Nearby, a group of gray-haired men and women huddled in a circle, holding hands, heads bowed. Then, someone handed them five bomber jackets branded with the Silver Snipers’ black-and-gold logo. They donned the jackets and, one by one, the five members of the world’s first senior esports team walked onstage.
