Lund is a left back, a position at which the U.S. program has lacked depth behind starter Antonee Robinson. Berhalter is seeking to strengthen the roster ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada.“We think [Lund] could fill the void,” Berhalter said. “That’s something we’ve struggled at for a while. No one has really grabbed that second position. And we’re seeing what he can do and if he can challenge for that spot.
In his first Serie B appearances, he started in a 3-1 victory at Reggiana and came off the bench in a 3-0 victory over Ferapisalò.Lund was then off to St. Louis for his first national team camp. With his family back home watching the friendly, Lund replaced Robinson in the 81st minute.
