Who doesn’t love a nice turntable? As well as being able to spin all that vinyl goodness, some turntables look so gorgeous and are examples of incredible design and engineering from which springs forth beautiful music.
The Acutus Dark Iron has been designed, engineered and hand-assembled in Cambridgeshire, England. The turntable is a direct replacement of its predecessor, the Acutus Dark Limited Edition. AVID says the turntable’s new sparkling iron finish costs much less to manufacture compared to the labor-intensive, chrome-finish Acutus models.Key to the Acutus Dark Iron is its new motor system, which sees the motor coupled to the turntable’s main chassis.
The drive belt on the new turntable is a twin round-section design that allows free suspension movement without speed fluctuations. The power supply uses DSP technology and independently generates a frequency for precise speed adjustment. Equipped with an 80 VA mains transformer, it also functions as an integrated amplifier tailored for the high-torque motor.The turntable ships with a chunky 10kg aluminum platter that’s topped with a 10mm damping disc and a TMShrunk felt-composite mat.
