Fox's long-running X-Men franchise did a lot of good for the superhero genre, but Marvel's version of mutants can fix a flaw of the former franchise.
Marvel Studios can avoid one major Fox mistake when bringing the X-Men into the MCU. Fox started their X-Men franchise in 2000 and produced 13 films set in the shared universe before Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019. Although several characters became franchise mainstays, most prominently Professor X, Magneto, and Wolverine, many others were introduced without plans of how they would be developed.
The MCU Will Have A More Established Plan For The X-Men The slow build-up of mutants in the MCU has been methodical and purposeful, only providing teases of some of the bigger names, including several hints towards Wolverine during She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Rather than thrusting the X-Men into the MCU immediately after acquiring the rights to the characters in 2019, Marvel Studios has put thought and patience into the team's introduction.
