His parents, Mike and Marianne, are in the photo at bottom right.“The Mayor of Maple Avenue,” a multi-part investigative podcast that tells the story of a young man who said he was a victim of serial child molester Jerry Sandusky, has delivered more than 500,000 downloads across five episodes.
The series is narrated by Sara Ganim, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of Sandusky’s crimes. Ganim said she had thought that story ended in 2012 when Sandusky was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for sexual assaults on 10 boys. For Shawn that meant a nearly decade-long battle to navigate a broken rehab system that wasn’t equipped to treat both his addiction and his underlying trauma.
