With Comic Con 2023 in full flow, Marvel have released The Marvels movie trailer, revealing the vengeful plan of Zawe Ashton's new MCU villain and explaining how Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and her new team-mates switch places.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT After debuting a teaser trailer earlier this year, Marvel Studios has officially released The Marvels full trailer in the middle of the night during Comic Con 2023 weekend, which can be viewed below. Joining Larson, Parris and Vellani in the movie are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ashton as Kree villain Dar-Benn, and Park Seo-joon as a mysterious character only known to be an ally of Carol's.
The Marvels Trailer Explicitly Confirms Captain Marvel's Most Impressive Power The MCU has already shown that Captain Marvel could absorb powers, and official accompanying material includes it as one of her superpowers, but The Marvels is the first MCU property to explicitly confirm the power. When explaining how Danvers, Monica and Khan swap places when they use their light-based powers , Rambeau says Dar-Benn tied their powers together to limit their ability to fight back.
Dar-Benn also gives Captain Marvel a new nickname , dubbing her "the Annihilator", and spelling out her plan for revenge after Danvers took everything from her. She is a zealot, and presumably a former follower of Lee Pace's Ronan The Accuser, still bruised from Captain Marvel's defeat of the Kree army in Captain Marvel.
