Two days later, Carr and Hunter helped Texas obliterate preseason No. 10 Arkansas 90-60 in an exhibition game. Now, Bishop’s cheeky little secret was public knowledge. Which actually makes sense, considering Carr played a pivotal role in convincing the 2021 Big 12 freshman of the year to transfer to Texas after he helped orchestrate a stunning turnaround at Iowa State, which won 22 games and reached the Sweet 16 one year after finishing 2-22. Beard even lauded Carr as the"lead recruiter," the one who got Hunter"to trust us."
Everything they envisioned came to fruition Nov. 17, when then-No. 2 Gonzaga rolled into the Moody Center boasting another top-tier roster that included All-WCC guards Rasir Bolton and Julian Strawther.
