The Mandalorian season 3, episode 5 may have just set up future shows and character arcs in the Star Wars universe for years to come.
The Mandalorian season 3, episode 5 began bringing together different storylines, but also set up the future of the Star Wars universe. Throughout the season, seeds have been planted that will eventually lead to the sequel trilogy, despite it taking place over two decades after the events of The Mandalorian. Seeing how The Mandalorian will finish out this season will have major ramifications, both for the show itself and other Star Wars projects.
One character who could return in Skelton Crew is the pirate Vane. He was one of the few who survived the Mandalorians' counterattack against Gorian Shard on Nevarro, jumping into hyperspace to an unknown location. If Vane were to run into Jude Law’s character and his team, he may be an interesting foe - or even an unlikely ally. With no boss over him anymore, Vane could be looking to get a fresh start, and the Skelton Crew afford him that opportunity.
Rangers of the New Republic Rangers of the New Republic was a planned show that was set to focus on Cara Dune and other New Republic marshals. However, with Gina Carano being written out of The Mandalorian season 3, it left room for Star Wars to rebrand the show and focus on a squadron, rather than just on Cara. The Mandalorian season 3, episode 5 gave a closer look at Adelphi Squadron, with central focus on Carson Teva.
Sabine Wren Sabine is set to make her live-action debut in Ahsoka, and The Mandalorian season 3, episode 5 may have set it up. At the end of the episode, Carson Teva found beskar in the ship that was carrying Moff Gideon. If Sabine and Ahsoka thought that the Moff had information about either Thrawn or Ezra’s locations, they may have attacked it to take Gideon prisoner. The resulting battle could explain how some beskar appeared on the transport.
