TheMandalorian's secret weapon? Classic Star Wars cuteness
’s bounty hunter character is the one who wears the emblematic helmet; he’s the one who does most of the fighting, the one who strikes deals withand the one who must learn how to ride giant, two-legged creatures called Blurrgs, all in pursuit of his bounty. But in reality, it’s the 50-year-old the mercenary chased down in the premiere who has already become the show’s real hero: a little green guy with wide eyes and big ears who looks a whole lot like Yoda.
This critter’s cuteness is near impossible to overstate, and that’s by design. His ears are each the width of his head; his eyes are huge and shiny; he coos like a human infant and, when standing, appears to stand no more than one foot tall—that is, when he’s not peacefully floating along in his hovercraft stroller. Many of the shots this Baby Yoda and his Mandalorian captor share are inherently comedic just based on visuals.
