The Mandalorian and Grogu, a feature-length follow-up to the three-season Disney+ series The Mandalorian, is struggling at the box office. The movie has dropped out of the domestic Top 10, and its current trajectory suggests it may not be in the black by the end of its theatrical run.

The movie, which stars Pedro Pascal reprising his role as bounty hunter Din Djarin, kicked off its run with the worst domestic debut for a live-action Star Wars movie in 27 years.
It followed this fear by falling out of the domestic Top 5 after just two weekends, marking the quickest drop from the chart for any of the 12 live-action Star Wars movies, beating Solo and The Last Jedi's four weekends apiece. Per Deadline, The Mandalorian and Grogu is not ranked among the Top 10 movies at the domestic box office for the Fourth of July weekend, meaning that it has dropped off the chart during its seventh weekend.
By spending six consecutive weekends in the Top 10, it has caught up somewhat with The Last Jedi and Solo, tying with them both for the quickest that a live-action Star Wars movie has ever dropped out of the domestic Top 10. The new releases that are projected to arrive on the chart and knock The Mandalorian and Grogu out are Minions & Monsters and the George Washington biopic Young Washington.
To compare, The Last Jedi was knocked out by Maze Runner: The Death Cure and Padmaavat while Solo was battered down by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The First Purge. While it has tied with The Last Jedi and Solo on this metric rather than falling more rapidly than they did, as was the case with its Top 5 performance, the fact that the new Star Wars spinoff is already out of the Top 10 most likely spells bad news for the movie.
It had a worse debut than either of those previous titles, so it already started at a lower point. Considering the fact that it reportedly cost $165 million, its estimated break-even point could be as high as $412.5 million.
This isn't a total that Solo was able to crack, it earned $393 million worldwide, so the current trajectory of the Pedro Pascal movie relative to the previous Star Wars spinoff shows that it probably won't be in the black by the end of its theatrical run. The Mandalorian and Grogu reviews probably aren't helping.
While it is technically Fresh on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, its 60% score lands exactly on the dividing line between Fresh and Rotten, which could be a key reason why the movie is failing to activate strong word of mouth in spite of the fact that its Popcornmeter score from verified users is a much-higher 87%
