And now, weeks away from what would have been Kennie’s 18th birthday, four young men have been convicted for their part in his death. It has been a long and cruel road for Kennie’s parents, Glen Carter and Joan Dixon. National Grid, who owned the gas holders, was given permission to demolish the rusting structures – located off Bradford Road and Alan Turing Way, near the Etihad stadium – in 2022. The Bradford Road gas holder has been demolished and work to dismantle the Alan Turing Way tower is well underway.
