After years of development, Taylor Sheridan's The Madison has finally landed a premiere date and giving viewers a proper first look at its cast of characters. The new series marks the latest spinoff in Sheridan's Yellowstone universe, revolving around the Clyburn and McIntosh families, one from New York City and the other from Montana, as their paths cross in the wake of an unspecified tragedy.
Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer are leading the ensemble Madison cast, which also includes Suits vet Patrick J. Adams, Lost's Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller, among others. Despite being announced in early 2023, the new Yellowstone series found itself moving a little slower behind-the-scenes than its franchise counterparts, but still got enough early confidence from Paramount Television to get an early season 2 renewal, which wrapped filming in December. Now, Paramount+ has revealed both the premiere date and first-look images for The Madison. The next Yellowstone spinoff series will officially begin streaming its six-episode first season on March 14. The images also offer the first looks at Russell's still-unspecified character, Pfeiffer's Clyburn family matriarch, Stacy, and the other characters making their way from the energetic scale of New York to the tranquil landscapes of Montana. Check out the images in the gallery below: In a unique change of pace compared to much of its franchise, The Madison is being described as"Sheridan's most intimate work to date" and a"deeply personal" look at family in the Yellowstone universe. The images alone do already offer a tease of this different feel compared to its predecessors, with the Clyburn and McIntosh characters looking to infuse a fish-out-of-water sensibility into the spinoff, particularly Stacy seeming to have issues putting together a fishing lure. One thing that remains unclear about The Madison is who Russell is playing. The official description for the series only lists the Clyburns as the central family, while most of the characters have different last names, indicating them all to be extended family from Pfeiffer's Stacy. Given the show is being touted as drama and resilience, it seems possible that Russell plays the Clyburn family patriarch whose death brings everyone to Montana. It would explain why the images of the Golden Globe nominee don't have him with any of the other principal cast. Up to this point, the franchise has solely focused on the Dutton family lineage, and with it not yet specified where in Montana the show will be set, apart from the central area of the state, there are a variety of ways it could connect to the others. Whether it's Ben Schnetzer's Van, who appears to be a sheriff, interacting with Luke Grimes' Kayce in his new job in Marshals or the Broken Rock Indian Reservation living in the area, the door is open for numerous returning faces. Given The Madison season 1 now has a premiere date, it will be interesting to see how quickly Paramount+ looks to bring the show back for its wrapped season 2. The reason for the year-and-a-half gap from wrapping season 1 to its release is still unclear, though the likeliest explanation is Sheridan's busy schedule seeing him take his time monitoring the post-production process of the show. Regardless of when season 2 arrives, though, at least Yellowstone fans have a massive 2026 ahead of them with the combined premieres of The Madison and Marshals in March.
