The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey opens up about filming the live-action remake, revealing she was sometimes filming in water for 13 hours a day.
The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey has revealed that filming the live-action remake sometimes had her in the water for 13 hours a day. The upcoming film is set to retell the story of Disney's 1989 animated classic of the same name, with a few differences along the way. These include Ariel's reasons for going to land as well as new songs that will be original to The Little Mermaid remake.
Speaking with Edition, Bailey revealed that filming for The Little Mermaid was sometimes challenging, as she would spend some days in the water for up to 13 hours. However, she explained that she was able to find strength in the character of Ariel, who inspired her to continue pushing herself. Check out what Bailey had to say about her filming experiences below:
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY I pushed myself as far as I’ve ever pushed myself in life. And I feel like the message from her was to know that you’ve always had it in you. How The Little Mermaid Will Redefine Ariel's Story Bailey opening up about the difficulty that sometimes came with filming in the water shows how much dedication has been put into making The Little Mermaid a faithful yet unique adaptation. The use of real water in some scenes instead of making the entire film CGI means there will be plenty of practical effects that show off the effort it took to create the movie.
This new rendition of Ariel's story is also set to be altered the story in some ways, with Bailey previously saying The Little Mermaid will be progressive by making the story more about Ariel finding freedom by going to land. While Prince Eric will still be a major character in the movie, Ariel finding herself by going to land appears to take a more central role in the live-action version.
