On Tuesday night, the Beachland Ballroom will welcome the rising rock quartet Linda Lindas
Lucia de la Garza, left, Mila de la Garza, Eloise Wong, and Bela Salazar of the Linda Lindas will perform at the Beachland Ballroom on Tuesday. Here, they pose at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club in 2023 in Indio, Calif. CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Tuesday night, the Beachland Ballroom will welcome a chorus of young, energetic, smart, and fun voices when the rising rock quartet the Linda Lindas performs with Rodeo Boys opening.
The video and the song, inspired by Mila de la Garza’s experience with a racist classmate went viral and a few short months later, the group was appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live and being hailed as a new, very young, adorable and quite fierce feminist voice on the rock ‘n’ roll landscape. That Green Day tour won’t be gracing Cleveland with its presence, but the Linda Lindas will be doing Northeast Ohio a musical solid when they headline the Beachland Ballroom on Tuesday.
“You don’t owe no demonstration. Who cares bout their validation. I don’t got no obligation. Just brush off all expectations,” Wong scream-shouts over a razor-sharp Dead Kennedys-like riff and hyper groove. “I feel like that’s the opposite, to be honest. Like I feel like we were kind of rushing to write the first record and then we felt like we wanted to take our time with the second one a little bit more,” Lucia de la Garza said.
After the tour, the band members, who go to school on the road, will return home to Los Angeles ... to go to school. And while sitting in class may seemingly not compare to having Billy Joe Armstrong playfully shoot confetti at you on your birthday while you play your opening set, the de la Garza and Won say they appreciate going to regular old school.
