The Human Rights Campaign awarded funding to the queer-owned lemonade as part of its program to help keep LGBTQ small businesses alive.
A queer-owned lemonade and juice shop in San Antonio just received a Christmas miracle. This month, The Lemon Girls , located at 2214 N. Zarzamora St. , pleaded with its community on social media to help keep the shop open. “...Like so many small businesses, we’re feeling the weight of rising costs and challenges beyond our control,” owners and couple Maxine and Desirée Cofino wrote on Facebook . A week later, their pleas were answered.
Revolución is bringing its fresh-pressed juices and roastery to Olmos Park The Cofinos opened their first brick-and-mortar shop in San Antonio’s West Side last year after several pop-ups. The shop serves tropical juices reminiscent of Maxine’s childhood in Puerto Rico, and also hosts queer-friendly events for the community. The Lemon Girls and Cheer Up Charlie’s, an Austin gay bar, were among 30 grant recipients across 19 states, spanning from Washington D.C. to Puerto Rico.
