The animated Prime Video show is based on an actual Dungeons & Dragons campaign played on the web series Critical Role during their first season, which aired between 2015 and 2017.
The title sequence takes on a slightly different atmosphere from the previous seasons, with new animated footage accompanying an updated instrumental theme that is slightly more pastoral and serene than the intense battle music that formerly preceded the show. The end of the video then reveals that the season 3 premiere date will be October 3.
Because January is typically a quieter time in movie theaters, this October release means that there will be more competition for viewership than the Legend ofVox Machina show has ever faced before. Movies that are currently scheduled to premiere in October 2024 include horror sequels such as Terrifier 3 and Smile 2 as well as major blockbuster tentpoles including Joker: Folie à Deux, Mortal Kombat 2, and Venom: The Last Dance.
