The Bills on Friday placed Darius Slay on the reserve/did not report list, which means they're holding his rights.
On the latest Takeoff Podcast with John Clark, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s and former Eagles wide receiver, Jason Avant compares this Eagles team to the one that collapsed two years ago. The Buffalo Bills on Friday put cornerback Darius Slay on the reserve/did not report list, which means they are retaining his rights.
The Steelers released the 34-year-old Slay earlier this week. Both Slay and the Eagles were reportedly interested in a reunion and the Eagles even put in a claim on Slay. But he Bills had the higher waiver priority and were awarded the player. All players are subject to waivers after the trade deadline.Darius Slay has all the respect in the world for the Organization, but he also has a 18 year old son in his senior year.December 5, 2025 “Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him,” agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN earlier this week. “But he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing.” The Eagles cut ties with Slay this offseason and he signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Steelers. After struggling this season, Slay was a healthy scratch last week and was released earlier this week. The Eagles have been trying to stabilize their CB2 position all year so it made sense that they’d try to bring back Slay.Slay came to Philly in 2020 and played five years in Philly, being named to the Pro Bowl three times from 2021-2023. He was a full-time starter for the Super Bowl team in 2024. The Eagles play the Bills in Buffalo in Week 17, so perhaps the Bills will cut Slay loose after that game. For now, though, his right remain with the Bills, who don’t seem pleased about the way things unfolded. After claiming Slay, the Bills released cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram with the intention of bringing him back to the practice squad. But Ingram was claimed by the Texans and now Slay doesn’t want to play in Buffalo.
