Kaitlyn Dever as Abby with blood streaked across her face in The Last of Us season 2
The Last of Us season 3 is embracing even more elements from the games. New set photos from the post-apocalyptic TV show tease an action scene with Abby and Lev at the center while filming on the upcoming episodes continues.
The Last of Us season 3 will be pulled from the back half of The Last of Us Part II, telling the story of Abby and the Washington Liberation Front prior to her encounter with Ellie at the end of season 2. The show will focus on what she was doing as Ellie was on her quest for revenge, revealing more about the larger conflict in Seattle too.
Now, CaptCanuck66 and TheLastofUsBR on X have released set photos from The Last of Us season 3, teasing an action sequence with Abby and Lev as the central focus. First up is a video, which sees Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Abby, and Kyriana Kratter, who will portray Lev, walking through the desolate streets of Seattle together.
Set photos offer a closer look at the two, revealing them preparing to break into a building, Abby armed with a rifle, Lev with a bow and arrow. Check out The Last of Us season 3 set video here. Specifically, the final episode sees Abby break into the theater, unceremoniously killing Jesse and holding Tommy hostage. As Ellie begs for his life, a shot rings out, before the show flashes back to the first day Ellie arrived in Seattle, this time from Abby's perspective. With the show following the video game's story, season 3 will offer deeper context to the war between the WLF and the Seraphites.
The cast of The Last of Us will be expanding with the addition of Lev, a transgender teenage boy and a member of the Seraphites who finds himself working with Abby. Season 3 will also introduce his sister, Yara, played by Michelle Mao. Based on the set photos, it appears to be adapting a portion of the game where Abby and Lev work together.
If it follows the game, season 3 will explore how the war has shaped Seattle, and just how much Abby's perspective on it has changed her in just a few short days. Season 3 began filming in British Columbia in March 2026, and is expected to wrap in November of this year.
Its exploration of Abby will be a strong departure from the rest of the series, which focused on Joel and Ellie in season 1, followed by Ellie on her quest to avenge Joel in season 2. The Last of Us Part II was polarizing for making Joel's killer sympathetic, while season 2 of the show saw a 55% decrease in viewership for its final episode in contrast to the season 1 finale.

Her mission with Lev is an important facet of how the story plays out, and one that the series appears dedicated to telling accurately for the small screen. 346 8.2/10 8/10 The Last of Us 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-MA Drama Action Horror Release Date January 15, 2023 Network HBO Showrunner Craig Mazin Directors Craig Mazin, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, Ali Abbasi, Mark Mylod, Stephen Williams, Jasmila Žbanić, Liza Johnson, Nina Lopez-Corrado Writers Neil Druckmann, Craig Mazin, Halley Wegryn Gross 3 Images Close Cast See All The Last Of Us is a television adaptation of the acclaimed video game series, set in a post-apocalyptic world where a smuggler named Joel is tasked with escorting a teenage girl, Ellie across the ravaged United States.
