Gabriel Luna reveals an iconic scene in that TheLastOfUs pulls straight from the game: '[We] very much tried to take inspiration and, in our execution, make the audience feel what we feel as players witnessing all that happen through Sarah's eyes.' 😲
Gabriel Luna breaks down how The Last of Us series shot the iconic escape scene during the Cordycep outbreak, pulling inspiration straight from the game. Series creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have repeatedly assured fans that the series will be faithful to and honor the game, with set photos, promotional posters, and trailers supporting this claim.
Gabriel Luna: I mean, it was written in the script that that whole thing is a oner. Very much tried to take inspiration and, in our execution, make the audience feel what we feel as players witnessing all that happen through Sarah's eyes. I don't know how you do that. I don't know how you drive from the top of the car. But that allowed us, of course, to go full 360 with the camera and Ksenia [Director of Photography] is in the back, being able to turn in every direction. So all of that technique helped to recreate the beginning of the game very accurately.
