Ingilmundr & Aethelstan's Relationship Explained One of the most important new characters introduced in The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die is Ingilmundr, who is revealed to be carrying on a secret relationship with Aethelstan. Their love seems to be genuine, but it is eventually revealed that Ingilmundr is an agent of Anlaf, sent to coax Aethelstan into starting a war with the other kings in Britain.
Who Was Anlaf? The Last Kingdom Show Ties Explained Anlaf is a new character in The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die, however, he is a cousin of Sigtryggr, who appears in The Last Kingdom season 4 and season 5. Anlaf is also the great-nephew of Ubba, who is killed in a duel by Uhtred in The Last Kingdom season 1. Anlaf is in Irland before he hears of Edward's imminent death and realizes England could be vulnerable during the succession.
