From the Dawn of the Jedii era to the fall of the Sith, Star Wars has revealed a lot more tha you may think about the history of the Jedi.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The history and timeline of the Jedi Order is still something of a mystery in Star Wars, but here's everything that has been revealed to date. When George Lucas introduced viewers to the Star Wars galaxy, he deliberately chose to give everything a lived-in aesthetic and a sense of history. According to Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi had been guardians of the Republic for a thousand generations.
Lightsabers may be associated with the Jedi Order and the Sith, but the Star Wars: Force & Destiny sourcebook Knights of Fate hints they predated the Jedi. The first official lightsaber form, Shii-Cho - sometimes called the Determination Form or the Way of the Sarlacc - is believed to have been adapted from existing techniques.
11 The First Jedi Temple Is Thought To Have Been On Ahch-To The seeds of the Jedi spread across the galaxy - c. 25,025 BBY The first Jedi Temple is believed to have been established on the remote planet Ahch-To in the Unknown Regions. This is rather odd, because the Dai Bendu - precursor of the Jedi - are associated with Coruscant in the Galactic Core.
9 The Early Jedi Dedicated Themselves To The Light Side Of The Force The Jedi Order's philosophy changed - by c. 24,025 BBY The Star Wars: Force & Destiny sourcebook Knights of Fate subtly hints that the Jedi Order devoted itself to the light side of the Force during its first millennium.
The Ordu Aspectu had been quickly defeated by the Jedi millennia ago. The same was not true of the Sith, however, and the Jedi were forced to adapt. Form II - Makashi - developed to help both Jedi and Sith in lightsaber combat, and it wasn't long before it was followed by the defensive Form III, Soresu, as blasters became common in a now-dangerous galaxy. This initial conflict appears to have ended with the defeat of the Sith, who retreated into what would become the Unknown Regions.
4 The Rise of Darth Momin A dangerous Sith hereitc emerges - c. 1,100 BBY The Sith heretic Darth Momin earned the ire of both Jedi and Sith. Momin was noted for his ability to manipulate the Force using architecture, and he successfully designed several innovative new pieces of Force technology. One of these, the Fermata Cage, was intended to trap a Sith pursuer outside time; it was eventually used to contain a droid-specific virus that threatened galactic civilization.
