It is becoming noticeable how little patience Roy seems to have for Engvall’s presence on this hockey team.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Pierre Engvall has been back with the Islanders for all of five days and it is already becoming a question of how long this situation will be tolerable for either side.

The hope, as expressed by Lou Lamoriello on Saturday, was that Engvall took his initial demotion to the AHL at the end of training camp as a wake-up call and applied himself in a more consistent way, proving he should be in the lineup every night and helping the Islanders win games. Instead, Engvall was invisible in consecutive games and coach Patrick Roy’s comments about him afterwards caused uncomfortable storylines for the Islanders to circulate around social media on both occasions.

First, on Saturday: “Pierre, we know what he did in the past two years. I guess Lou thought it was a good moment for him to be back and play.”The Yankees' error-strewn World Series ending was cruel — and totally fittingDucks goaltender Lukas Dostal turned away all but one of the 40 shots he faced against the Islanders on Oct. 29, 2024.Ilya Sorokin had the edge over Semyon Varlamov through the first few rounds of alternating goalie starts for the Islanders.
