Peeta in a white suit sits in a fancy chair in the Capitol in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1'.

There was a stretch when every studio wanted the next big YA dystopian machine, but very few of those franchises held up once the trend cooled. This one did. And it’s now coming to Hulu in April. What once looked like a peak-2010s phenomenon now plays more like a remarkably durable blockbuster saga: brutal enough to feel dangerous, emotionally grounded enough to stay human, and politically sharp enough to feel less dated with time.

Across its five films, the franchise has grossed more than $3.3 billion worldwide, which already puts it in rare company, but the more interesting part is why people keep going back. On April 14, 2026, Hulu is adding all five films at once, which turns the month into a full-franchise rewatch lane instead of a one-title nostalgia play. And that matters because this series actually benefits from being watched in sequence. The early films have the clean propulsion of survival thrillers, the later chapters deepen the war machinery and media games, and the prequel adds a colder angle on how power learns to dress itself up as order. Plenty of franchise binges expose the weak spots. This one tends to reveal how coherent the whole thing really was. And yes, that franchise is The Hunger Games. Hulu’s April slate brings in The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Part 1, Mockingjay – Part 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes on the same day, making it one of the platform’s strongest movie drops of the month. Posts By Macklen Makhloghi What Else Is Coming to Hulu in April Hulu’s April 2026 lineup has more going for it than just The Hunger Games. The biggest TV draws are The Testaments, The Handmaid's Tale spin-off, which launches with a three-episode premiere on April 8, and Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, the four-episode revival arriving on April 10. On the movie side, April 1 is stacked with easy-watch library hits like The Devil Wears Prada, Night at the Museum, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Shrek, Shrek 2, and Moon. Later in the month, Hulu will also add Bad Boys: Ride or Die on April 7 and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero on April 13, among others.
