Honda hasn't sold a Civic Hybrid in the U.S. since 2015, instead offering the Insight for customers looking for a compact, electrified vehicle. On Thursday, Honda announced that the Civic Hybrid would return to the U.S. for the 2025 model year, with production beginning next spring.The Civic Hybrid will use the same two-motor hybrid system as the current Accord and CR-V, with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle inline-four paired with two electric motors.
The company says that over half of current Accord and CR-V sales are of hybrid models, and it's anticipating that the hybrid will make up 40 percent of Civic sales. The Civic Hybrid also joins a segment revitalized by the excellent new Toyota Prius.First in production will be the 2025 Civic Hybrid sedan, built in Honda's Alliston, Ontario plant. Following soon after will be the hatchback, to be built in Greensburg, Indiana.
