. In 2021, the Mercedes three-pointed star reached the 100-year anniversary from when its design was submitted for trademark protection. In that same year, it became the only European brand to crack Interbrand's top 10"Best Global Brands." The Mercedes logo stands in front of Mercedes-Benz's estimated brand value of more than $50 billion and adorns every one of its cars, trucks, and SUVs.
Of course the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star has an interesting back story. For instance, did you know that in addition to the three-pointed star logo,also trademarked a four-pointed logo that it didn't use regularly until 1989? Or, that the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star within a circle is a merging of two different logos? That's right; There is a reason why"Mercedes-Benz" is hyphenated.
Even without the circle or wreath around it, the three-pointed star is easily recognizable. But, why does it have three points? Originally, each point was meant to represent a different type of mobility: land, sea, and air.By now Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft has taken on the Mercedes name for its motor products. 1916 was a big year for the"air and sea" mission of the company.
