Despite recent job cuts at the studio, Xbox boss Phil Spencer believes the"heart and soul" of Halo is at 343 Industries and that the developer is"critically important" to the success of the franchise.
Xbox has been having a bit of a rough time. Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard is under heavy scrutiny from numerous regulators worldwide, and the company also recently announced it was cutting 10,000 jobs, which included developers from. Halo Infinite studio 343 Industries seemingly took the brunt of the layoffs, raising questions about the future of 343 and Halo. This resulted in the studio having to release a statement reassuring players it was here to stay.
Spencer was also asked about support studios coming in to help 343 with Halo. Spencer said that having support studios"was just part of development" and that"the heart and soul of Halo is with 343 and the team that's there. I have the utmost confidence in the team that's there and leading and the plan that they have going forward.", Spencer wouldn't say.
"They've got some other things, some rumoured, some announced, that they'll be working on. They're excited about the plan forward. I look at, say, the work that they've done on Forge and the amazing support we've had from creators there. The timeline for Halo... Halo is always going to be one of those things in my mind that is part of Xbox lore, part of the foundation of what Xbox is about.
