“Hugo was a postal worker, and he had a full-time job. So he had a stable income and a stable job,” said Adams. “But on his own time, he decided to compile this data to make traveling for Black Americans safer and also to connect.” “I find the exhibition to be incredibly comforting and challenging,” she said. “That banner that’s in the exhibition that says “Are we there yet” — I love that tongue in cheek. Are we to a place yet where we can just move forward to a place of safety, and we just never seem to get there. At least not yet.”The Green Book
