Next year’s GoldenGlobes ceremony will take place on February 28, 2021—the date recently vacated by the Academy Awards
An awards show will be held February 28, 2021, after all. One week after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decided tothat calendar position and push next year’s Academy Awards to April, the Golden Globes swooped in to steal the spot. On Monday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, NBC, and Dick Clark Productions announced that the 78th annual Golden Globes will now take place on February 28, 2021, Oscars’ previous date.
How the Golden Globes will handle things has not yet been decided. While the press release did trumpet a live broadcast from the Beverly Hilton, it also included this bit of open-ended flexibility for potential nominees: “To accommodate both domestic and international film and television productions, the HFPA will provide further guidance around eligibility, voting period and revised nominations announcement timing in the coming weeks.
