TheFlash star Danielle Panabaker hypes the upcoming season 8 finale by describing it as 'huge, with a lot of returning faces.' In fact, it's the show's biggest finale in YEARS.
According to Danielle Panabaker, The Flash season 8 finale will be the biggest one in years. Since resuming in 2022, The Flash season 8 has introduced one of the darkest storylines in the show's run. Loosely based on the DC Comics storyline Blackest Night, The Flash season 8 has focused on the villainous Deathstorm as Team Flash's latest big bad.
The Deathstorm storyline is coming to a conclusion this week after last week's episode ended with another causality for Team Flash. While Killer Frost defeated Deathstorm, it came at a price as she passed away at the end of The Flash season 8, episode 13,"Death Falls." Even though the Arrowverse has sometimes had a fake-out or two when it comes to character deaths, Frost's death is sticking, with this week's episode,"Funeral for a Friend," serving as a tribute.
“I was not around for every bit of it, but as I was reading the script for the finale I was shaking my head wondering how on Earth they were going to pull it off. It was the first opportunity to have a big finale in a couple of years, because Season 6 ended short and Season 7 we were still dealing with COVID restrictions. It’s huge, with a lot of returning faces…. As the saying goes, ‘Go big or go home,’ and they went big for this one.
While The Flash has been able to do big things like Armageddon in the latest season, the COVID-19 pandemic has definitely had some continuous effects on the Arrowverse drama. Since the pandemic broke out, The CW hasn't been able to do traditional crossovers due to the heavy involvement of multiple production crews. That is what resulted in Armageddon happening, which was a crossover-like event for The Flash season 8.
What The Flash season 8 finale will have in store remains to be seen. While the title has yet to be revealed, episode 20 is currently set to air on Wednesday, June 29. Panabaker has also stated that The Flash season 8 will include some familiar faces, which is normal for the finales. The last episode is also set to have a surprising cameo that no one has guessed so far. Whatever is coming, it looks like The Flash season 8 finale will be something not to miss.
