While early reviews for The Flash have been positive, its biggest challenge has to do with the multiverse and its role in the DC Universe.
For all the excitement behind DC's upcoming movie The Flash, the movie has quite a challenge ahead of it. Racing back in time to save his mother, Ezra Miller's Barry Allen will inadvertently break the DC Universe with a collision of realities. However, it's worth noting that this misadventure through the multiverse is in many ways the first of its kind.
The CW's recently concluded Arrowverse of DC shows had ongoing multiverse narratives for years, featuring all sorts of heroes and villains from other Earths. However, this hasn't been the case for DC's movie universe. While Marvel Studios' MCU is currently in the middle of a massive "Multiverse Saga", The Flash will be the very first foray into the idea of alternate realities and variants from other dimensions.
The Multiverse Comes With Big Risks For The Flash Movie Essentially, The Flash has to introduce the concept of the multiverse before breaking and likely changing all of reality in one single movie. While it’s not impossible to pull off successfully, it is still quite the challenge other DC movies haven't had to worry about. That said, Barry Allen's Flash is certainly the best hero for the job based on the comics.
