Rishi Sunak has vowed to put 'funding in the hands of local people' - but one senior local Labour figure has described it as a 'sham and a scam'
Five towns in Greater Manchester are being promised £20m over the next decade to help regenerate their high streets and tackle anti-social behaviour.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities said the town boards would be able to use a suite of regeneration powers while deploying the new funding.
In August last year, a video emerged of former Chancellor Mr Sunak telling Tory members in Tunbridge Wells that he had started ‘undoing’ Labour funding formulas ‘that shoved all the funding into deprived urban areas.’ However local politicians in several of the Greater Manchester areas to benefit, including some from Labour, welcomed the news.
