Fantastic Four: First Steps has a tough road ahead of it. Despite being"Marvel's First Family," the Fantastic Four has a rocky cinematic history. The first attempt at a theatrical adaptation in 1994 never saw a release, though the few critics who saw the film panned it. In 2005, Fantastic Four debuted to, once again, unfavorable reviews, exacerbated by the release of The Incredibles a year prior.
A surprise reveal at a concert for MCU diehards was a surefire way to drum up excitement for the theme and the movie itself, nearly a year before its release. I, for one, find the theme ideal for a new Fantastic Four film. The theme for Fantastic Four: First Steps channels the retro-inspired vibes in a unique way. When listening to Giacchino's music, I feel like I'm walking through Future World in EPCOT, which suits the Fantastic Four. If the rest of Fantastic Four: First Steps commits to the retro-futuristic setting as much as the music does, the film could be a big win for the MCU, setting itself apart from recent offerings with a distinct take.
