The Exorcist: Believer lands in theaters on October 6th.
While the original The Exorcist famously unfolds in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., some audiences may have forgotten that the film actually starts in Iraq, which features the discovery of a creepy totem that plants the seed for the ancient evil that possesses a young girl. With the upcoming The Exorcist: Believer, director David Gordon Green similarly brought together elements from a variety of cultures to imply how humanity has been subjected to these terrors for centuries.
For the first time since the 1973 film, Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before. The film also stars Emmy winner Ann Dowd as Victor and Angela's neighbor, and Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz as the parents of Katherine, Angela's friend.
