Eagles special teams coordinator Michael Clay interviewed for the same role with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, according to The Eagles gave the Buccaneers permission to interview Clay, who has been in Philadelphia since the arrival of head coach Nick Sirianni in 2021.
Clay, 34, has been a key member of Sirianni’s staff, helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX last year. But Philadelphia’s special teams unit had an up-and-down 2025 season. The Eagles’ Pro Football Focus special teams grade ranked 17th in the NFL. There were highs with the Eagles blocking multiple kicks. Jordan Davis blocked a field goal and returned it for a touchdown to beat the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3. Then in Week 4, Cam Latu blocked a punt and Sydney Brown returned it for a score against the Bucs. Eagles punter Braden Mann also had a career year with a net average of 43.1 yards and pinning 20 out of 72 punts inside the 20-yard line.. The 30-year-old veteran connected on 20 of 27 field-goal attempts for a 71.4% conversion rate in the regular season. That clip ranked 31st among NFL kickers with at least 20 attempts. Elliott also missed a key extra point in the NFC Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
