Tickets are still available for the Philadelphia Eagles' annual Huddle Up for Autism fundraiser all day Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
Everything from live events, to locker room tours and special appearance by Eagles players, cheerleaders and Swoop are just some of the things that were available."I think it’s a great place for kids to come together. It’s nice to see them active. I like that there’s resources here that parents have access to," Patience Burton of Abington said. This fundraising event happens every year and is in celebration of April's Autism Awareness Month.
"Anything that helps to raise money for any organization that’s trying to make things better. Cancer research or in this case, autism research, because that one hits home for us, is just amazing," Britney Peterson of Blackwood told NBC10. Leading up to this year's event, over $203,000 was raised. That number tops last year's total of $139,708.
"At the Center for Autism Research at CHOP, research translates to clinical care. And so the funds that we raise today help us to do research projects so that we can give clinical care to all of the families here today," Neuropsychologist Juhi Pandey with the Center for Autism Research said. Officials say that the annual Huddle Up for Autism fundraiser has raised over $1 million for autism research and care programs since it started in 2009.
