Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joined the nation in showing their support for healthcare workers.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have repeatedly demonstrated their gratitude to NHS staffers during the Covid-19 pandemic, so it came as no surprise that the royal couple threw their support behind the first demonstration for Clap For Our Carers on Thursday night.

The newly launched campaign, which has gone viral on social media, encourages the public to stand at their windows and doorsteps each night and applaud the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals battling on the frontlines of the coronavirus epidemic. Hundreds of thousands of people across Britain are reported to have taken part in the first national round of applause, and the Cambridges were among them.

“To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you,” the royal couple captioned an Instagram post of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis enthusiastically clapping outside Anmer Hall. The Duke and Duchess are expected to remain in Norfolk with their children while the nation is under lockdown, with George and Charlotte being tutored at home in light of schools closing.

While still in London on 21 March, Willian and Kate notably used one of their final days in the capital, where NHS staffers are fielding five times the usual number of calls. “It’s at times like this when we realise just how much the NHS represents the very best of our country and society – people from all backgrounds and walks of life with different experiences and skills, pulling together for the common good,” the Duke affirmed in a speech.
