Dolly Parton's Imagination Library will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.

Singer-songwriter Dolly Parton speaks at an event where her organization, Imagination Library, donates the 100 millionth book. NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Public Library Foundation has received its largest donation in history from Dolly Parton to help start a new early literacy program.

Parton’s The Dollywood Foundation, home to her well-known and acclaimed Imagination Library, will donate $4.5 million to NPL’s new initiative Begin Bright. Begin Bright aims to ensure that every Nashville child starts kindergarten on the right foot.

“I really believe this partnership can make a huge impact on inspiring a love of reading for children and families. And one of the best parts is that Nashville can once again light the way for the nation,” said Parton, whose Imagination Library will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. Begin Bright plans to deliver a “Little Library” filled with Dolly Parton’s Imagination library books and a host of NPL resources to every childcare center in Davidson County.

The new initiative will also include a new app that will provide on-demand, digital early literacy training for parents and teachers.
