Or at least rides in one in The Devil Wears Prada 2, and upgrade from the S-Class she rode in from the first movie
Meryl Streep, whose character Miranda Priestly rode in the back seat of a lengthy Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the first The Devil Wears Prada movie, has moved up a class, even for her. In the sequel, cleverly titled The Devil Wears Prada 2, the main character will be whisked about Manhattan in a stunningly gorgeous Maybach.
“Two decades ago, the Mercedes-Benz S‑Class was prominently featured in the original 2006 film, helping define its aesthetic of power and prestige in the glamorous world of high fashion,” says Mercedes. “Now, with the highly anticipated sequel arriving in theatres May 1, the brand returns to the world of The Devil Wears Prada with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class as the hero vehicle.”The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class just got a freshening, with a grille that is now 20 percent larger with an aluminum surround and the Maybach name illuminated within it; the twin-star headlights get rose accents; both the Maybach logo on the C-pillar and the floating star on the hood are illuminated, and the star in the wheels remains upright no matter what the wheels are doing.The interior has been redesigned, too, with the new MBUX Superscreen infotainment interface in place. It is slathered with what Mercedes calls “superb finishes, including new Natural Grain Brown Amber Wood with Herringbone Pattern, paired with other elegant materials, soft ambient lighting and smooth digital surfaces.”Under the hood of the new land yacht are your choice of two powerplants. The latest evolution of the eight‑cylinder engine in the Mercedes-Maybach S 580 has been “extensively re‑engineered and readied for future emissions regulations.” It makes 530 hp and 553 lb-ft, representing increased power and torque, as well as sharper response. “Numerous technical upgrades along with mild-hybrid technology ensure agile, linear power delivery with efficient energy recuperation, while two Lanchester balance shafts provide exceptional refinement.” If V8 power is not enough, at the top of the Maybach S-Class portfolio is the 621-hp handcrafted V12 engine exclusive to the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 in the U.S. and select other markets.The one in the movie was made possible by Mercedes-Maybach’s MANUFAKTUR Made To Measure, a customization program with “virtually endless combinations of Nappa leather, stitching, embroidery and bespoke finishes.” You can be sure Mercedes is going to squeeze everything it can out of the product placement. Mercedes-Benz calls its collaboration with The Devil Wears Prada 2 “a fully integrated 360° co-promotional campaign launching globally on March 27, 2026.”Look for the campaign to include a custom spot featuring film footage and premium key visuals for print and digital advertising. Specifically, that means a one-of-a-kind Devil Wears Prada 2-themed MANUFAKTUR Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will be produced for premiere activations and marketing events, “as an elevated tribute to craftsmanship.” Here’s what Mercedes hopes you notice when you see the car in the movie:“The moment the Mercedes-Maybach’s doors close with a hushed finality signals something far beyond transportation: a high expectation. Within the car’s intimate sanctuary, private conversations unfold, control is restored and genuine calm prevails amidst the chaos of daily life.”The movie The Devil Wears Prada 2 opens in theaters on May 1.
