Superman has a dark side.
Few heroes in the DC Universe are known for their kindness more than Superman. No matter what someone has done, Superman will almost always lend an ear and try to help someone, no matter what they're going through. But early in his career, Superman had considered another path; at one point, it appeared possible that instead of offering redemption, Superman would only offer brutal retribution to the criminals of Metropolis.
The story arc saw a brutal new hero, the Demolisher, going after the villains of Metropolis – only for it to be revealed that under the mask was, in fact, Clark Kent.Superman Became The Demolisher To Explore His Darker Side There's no denying that Superman is a major symbol of hope, but he didn't start out that way. It took him a while in his career before people trusted him as a superhero, coming to believe in what he stood for.
