The cost of running an electric fan overnight during the heatwave as energy prices soar
The UK is currently in the middle of a heatwave as temperatures are set to continue to rise over the coming days. The warm weather leaves many uncomfortable during the night and struggling to sleep.
"Temperatures are likely to peak towards end of next week. There's lots different model outputs one or two are showing extreme temperatures like 43C. However, we are very unlikely to see 43C." That might not sound like much, but it soon adds up. Leaving the fan on between 10pm and 8am would cost you around 33p in energy costs .
