I am so excited to introduce you to my first column for Mother & Baby, The Confident Mama! I want to help every mum feel empowered and confident in the way she looks, how she dresses, her parenting decisions, and speaking up for herself.
Summer is on the way - hooray! I for one am buzzing for the longer days, those sticky nights in the garden with an ice cold drink once the kids are in bed, and making memories that will last a lifetime. But I know for lots of you, it’s a dreaded season. Gone are the chunky jumpers and thick coats- and for the more body conscious, the fear is very real. There is nowhere left to hide, or at least serious discomfort if you try to. And believe me, I get it.
First things first - I promise you, nobody cares. Nobody is looking at you . They’re concentrating on themselves, their kids, their bodies! The best thing in the world that you can wear is a smile. I know it sounds like such a naff cliché, but it really is true.
2-Don’t be afraid of skirts with legs rubbing together and stick a pair of anti-chafe shorts under there.• Cup sizes over dress sizes, so I feel supported and contained.• High waisted styles keep me feeling secure, and stop my belly overhang from rubbing. I’m also a fan of a one piece, depending on the cut. I don’t want to feel frumpy but I do want to to feel contained!
