The Civil Aviation Authority will be investigating an accident that took place at Cape Town International Airport on 23 January 2023, which caused a delay in the arrival time of two flights.Airports Company South Africa can confirm that a private aircraft with a solo pilot on board veered off the main runway at Cape Town International Airport on Monday, 23 January 2023.
Mark Maclean, Regional Manager of the Cape Town International Airport cluster 3, said in a statement released shortly after the incident on Monday, 23 January 2023, “Our team is already in the process of removing the aircraft from the runway and at this stage we are confident there will be very few interruptions to our operations.”
“There were no diversions as a result and minor delays were experienced. The incident will be investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority.”
