TheBoys' Herogasm event is an ambitious undertaking for the superhero series, but according to showrunner Eric Kripke, the season 3 finale might actually beat it.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke compares filming the season 3 finale to its much-hyped “Herogasm” event. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic of the same name, Amazon Prime Video's The Boys continues to turn the superhero genre on its head.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Irrespective of changes made to the source material, Kripke has said fans will be getting the “full Herogasm experience.” A new trailer promoting Herogasm included a comically long content warning. It described explicit scenes “not suitable for any audience,” including “airborne penetration, dildo-based maiming, extra strength lube, icicle phalluses and cursing.

“The season finale is very ambitious, just because we pulled off like the biggest fight scene we’ve ever done, and that was really hard. But this [Herogasm] is up there. This was so hard to film. It was so difficult.” One can't help but wonder who this “biggest fight scene” is between. Every season of The Boys has focused largely on the conflict between Billy Butcher and Homelander, and season 3 has introduced V-24, which makes the user a Supe for 24 hours. Given that Butcher’s laser eyes and super strength are akin to Homelander’s, it would seem The Boys is leading towards a showdown between the two.

If Herogasm lives up to the hype, it bodes well for The Boys season 3 finale. However, Herogasm is supposedly ambitious in terms of what can be shown on television while simultaneously telling a competent story. Meanwhile, the finale sounds like a more straightforward climax . Regardless, The Boys season 3 will undoubtedly leave audiences stunned, bewildered, and intrigued in its final stretch. The Boys season 3 releases new episodes Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
