Labour already controls most of Nottinghamshire's councils and holds the East Midlands Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner roles
Labour activists and candidates in Nottinghamshire have been telling their supporters for weeks to ignore the polls. Yet as we get closer to election day, the vision of how Nottinghamshire could look for Labour after July 4 is becoming too tantalising for them to turn a blind eye to.
If those polls are to be believed, it's going to be an incredibly positive map for Labour. In many polls, Labour are predicted to take all Nottinghamshire's 11 seats apart from Ashfield - where Reform's Lee Anderson and Jason Zadrozny complicate the picture.Given the poll leads they are enjoying in many areas of the county, it's going to take a lot to prevent jubilation for Labour in Nottinghamshire come July 5.
The party also leads Newark and Sherwood District Council and was victorious in May when it came to the East Midlands Mayor and Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner elections. If we throw a potential 10 Nottinghamshire MPs into the mix, the inevitable question arises - where is the opposition in Nottinghamshire going to come from?
