Here are some of the best things to do this week in San Diego, from Monday, Jan. 20 to Friday, Jan. 24.Martin Luther King Jr. Day events are planned throughout San Diego CountyHands on San Diego hosts community service events Jan. 20 and other days throughout the county to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Visit MARA Rescue needs volunteers to help with daily ranch chores and animal care so the nonprofit can care for the farm animals that live at its rescue sanctuary.
On Tuesdays throughout each month, different local museums open their doors for free to local residents. This week’s open venue are the San Diego Museum of Art, Japanese Friendship Garden and Mingei International Museum. Make sure to bring identification.The San Diego Museum of Art is holding a workshop where the public can learn art skills such as painting, drawing and mixed media. Participants can bring their own material or use the ones provided.

Athenaeum Art Center, Art + Salt, 1955 Julian Ave., Logan Heights.One of the first major men’s professional golf tournaments of the year is back at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The Farmers Insurance Open gives ticketed guests the chance to see top golfers compete to win over $1 million in prize money. InWednesday through Saturday. Torrey Pines Golf Course, 11480 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla. $65-$650.
