Saskatoon Folk Fest 2023 is on until Saturday, Aug. 19. This year, the celebration includes 17 pavilions spread out across seven locations.

Fifteen-year-old Highland dancer Abby Brenner, who is performing and volunteering at the Scottish pavilion this year, said she has loved coming to Folkfest since she was eight years old.

“Every dancer, it’s the first one they learn, and we all go up and perform it together. It’s just one big celebration of our dancing.” At the entrance to the Chinese pavilion on Thursday evening, nine-year-old Henrik Ng was proudly sporting a red hanfu — pinned with a shiny volunteer ribbon — as he handed out Folkfest programmes to visitors and invited them in.Article contentHe’s had plenty of chances to visit the activity stations in the other pavilions, too.

When she came to Folkfest, Kira Backstrom knew exactly what activity she wanted to try; she made a beeline for the Mexican tent’s piñata-making station.
