The Best Star Wars TV episodes.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Star Wars franchise has grown exponentially in the realm of TV shows, with each series exemplified by its best episode. Star Wars was once confined to 2D animation on the small screen but later evolved into 3D animation before the franchise received its first live-action TV series.
Each medium brings something exciting to Star Wars and redefines how new stories can be told, especially when episodes are free to experiment. The various Star Wars shows have something to offer every kind of viewer, but because a series can vary in quality over time, it can seem impossible to commit to so many episodes. Thankfully, each Star Wars TV show has several amazing episodes that encapsulate the series' best qualities. The best Star Wars episodes embrace what makes a show unique, display expert filmmaking, and honor what audiences have always loved about Star Wars. Fans may have to wait years for a new movie release, but exceptional Star Wars TV episodes are never in short supply. While this makes it challenging to choose the standout of each show, the following episodes capture Star Wars at its absolute best.Star Wars: Visions - Season 2, Episode 5 "Journey To The Dark Head" Star Wars: Visions may be non-canon, but the series has featured remarkable episodes that are worthy additions to the timeline. Season 2, episode 5 "Journey to the Dark Head" is an anime-style story that presents the Star Wars universe differently while remaining true to the franchise's core themes. The episode offers the best explanation of balance in the Force and why the Jedi still choose the light, as each generation brings as much hope as despair. With fantastic animation, brilliant voice acting, and a thrilling lightsaber duel, this episode is the best of Visions. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures - Season 1, Episode 1 "The Young Jedi/Yoda's Mission" Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures season 1, episode 1 "The Young Jedi/Yoda's Mission" is a fun introduction with a good message for its younger target audience. Sporting colorful 3D animation and likable characters, the first episode perfectly sets up the rest of the show while maintaining the adventurous charm that Star Wars is known for. Kai Brightstar learns the importance of putting the greater good before his own needs, and as a result, he is gifted with Yoda's first lightsaber that the Grand Master used as a youngling. Young Jedi Adventures episode 1 has everything that makes the show great for parents and kids enjoying Star Wars together. Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi - Season 1, Episode 4 "The Sith Lord" Concise in its storytelling and presented with the same incredible animation as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is a fantastic prequel series that expands on different Jedi. Dooku's story is the most captivating, culminating in season 1, episode 4 "The Sith Lord" where Dooku fully commits himself to the dark side. The episode smartly ties into Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, finally shows an onscreen conversation between Dooku and Qui-Gon Jinn, and most significantly expands on Jedi Master Yaddle's character. Perfectly directed and tragic in tone, episode 4 showcases Tales of the Jedi's full potential. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 7, Episode 11 "Shattered" The Clone Wars received its long overdue finale when the show was brought back for a seventh and final season, and the "Siege of Mandalore" arc was everything fans could have hoped for. Season 7, episode 11 "Shattered" is the highlight of the arc, crossing over with Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith to show Order 66 from Ahsoka Tano's perspective. After following Ahsoka's story for seven seasons, witnessing Rex and the other clones turn against her is heartbreaking, and their subsequent hunt for Ahsoka is full of tension. The episode concludes with Ahsoka learning the scope of Order 66, setting the stage for the final episode. Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Season 1, Episode 1 "Aftermath" Another example of the first episode being the best, Star Wars: The Bad Batch had a fantastic introduction with season 1, episode 1 "Aftermath." The show seamlessly transitions from The Clone Wars, and the 70-minute runtime gives the episode plenty of room to tell a fleshed-out and self-contained story. Each member of the Bad Batch brings something important to the episode, particularly Hunter and Crosshair, with one choosing to defy the Empire and the other embracing loyalty. However, Omega is the standout character, bringing much-needed humanity to the group and allowing the viewer to experience the Star Wars universe from her perspective. Obi-Wan Kenobi - Season 1, Episode 5 "Part V" Obi-Wan Kenobi season 1, episode 5 "Part V" reunites Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen for a flashback duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, respectively, and this alone sets the episode apart from the others. However, the rest of the episode contains plenty of action, sacrifice, and emotional revelations. There is a lot of focus on Reva when her history is revealed, but since it's presented in the context of Obi-Wan's failures, her story is not as distracting as it is in the season finale. The episode concludes with an incredible lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Reva and raises the stakes for episode 6. Andor - Season 1, Episode 10 "One Way Out" Andor contains some of the best writing in all of Star Wars, and nowhere is this more apparent than in season 1, episode 10 "One Way Out." Kino Loy urges the other prisoners to escape the Empire even though he can't join them, and he and Luthen Rael deliver memorable monologs. Mon Mothma also has to face a terrible decision to hide her rebel activities, so all these character moments collectively demonstrate the cost of sacrifice. Every scene is elevated by exceptional performances from every cast member, solidifying Andor as one of the greatest Star Wars stories. Star Wars Rebels - Season 2, Episodes 21 & 22 "Twilight Of The Apprentice" The Star Wars Rebels season 2 finale "Twilight of the Apprentice" was the show's turning point that changed the story from then on. Malachor's design is hauntingly beautiful, the perfect setting for the characters to face their greatest challenge. Of course, the biggest highlight of the episode is Ahsoka vs. Vader, making this the conclusion to their story from The Clone Wars. The team behind "Twilight of the Apprentice" deserves praise for their willingness to create lasting consequences, particularly Kanan Jarrus being blinded by Maul, and the animation team arguably created the show's best-looking episode. The Mandalorian - Season 2, Episode 8 "Chapter 16: The Rescue" The Mandalorian season 2, episode 8 "Chapter 16: The Rescue" was what the show had been building to since the beginning, finally completing Din Djarin's quest to return Grogu to the Jedi. This turned out to be none other than Luke Skywalker, but the episode wisely shrouds the Jedi Master in mystery to present him from the other character's perspective. The episode's ending was the most emotional of the series, with Din Djarin and Grogu saying goodbye as Ludwig Göransson's brilliant score adds so much emotion. The rest of the episode perfectly balances all the characters and provides some of the show's most satisfying action. The Book Of Boba Fett - Season 1, Episode 4 "Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm" The Book of Boba Fett season 1, episode 4 "Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm" was a solid conclusion to Boba Fett's portion of the story. The later episodes may have been good, but the show lost focus and was essentially hijacked by The Mandalorian, turning Boba's story into The Mandalorian season 2.5. This episode did the best job of balancing the flashback with the main storyline, tying into Boba's appearances in The Mandalorian and bringing the plot full circle. The episode contains fun action, Boba and Fennec Shand have good chemistry, and the ending sets up the war between Boba and the Pyke Syndicate. Star Wars Resistance - Season 1, Episodes 19 & 20 "No Escape" After much buildup throughout season 1, Star Wars Resistance episodes 19 and 20 "The Escape" saw the First Order take over as the show tied into Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Kaz Xiono witnesses General Hux's speech and the destruction of his home planet, Hosnian Prime, giving him greater motivation in the rest of the finale. The Colossus being revealed as a giant starship is an incredible twist, and while the heroes manage to escape, they cannot stop Tam Ryvora from joining the First Order. A TV show's first significant turning point is always noteworthy, and this makes "No Escape" the best episode of Star Wars Resistance.
