An electric-powered, 85 percent-scale model of a vintage Bentley is nearly as peculiar and entertaining as driving the original today.
The term “performance car” normally refers to one that offers enhanced levels of speed, power, and excitement. The Bentley Blower Junior can deliver only one of these, a point made with the chance to unleash it on an empty test track. With the accelerator pedal pinned, the speedometer needle stopped climbing at an indicated 42 mph. Propulsion comes from a 48-volt electric motor delivering a peak of just 20 hp.
The underlying steel chassis is a faithful reproduction too, although the floor has been lowered to create more space in the cockpit, where the driver faces a polished metal dashboard with retro analog dials and vintage-style domestic light switches for the turn signals and headlights.
