A new action figure inspired by The Batman imagines Robert Pattinson in a classic stealth suit hearkening back to the source material and DC movies of old. In the decades since Adam West’s 1960s Batman television series and Tim Burton’s live-action Batman in 1989, the Batman franchise become more grounded thanks in large part to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
Inspired by comics like Batman: Year One and The Long Halloween, The Batman focuses on a younger Bruce Wayne in his second year as Batman as he investigates a string of politically motivated murders committed by a serial killer known as the Riddler . With Pattinson’s eye makeup and bat symbol that doubles as a glauca knife, The Batman is a far cry from the camp of films like 1995's Batman Forever and 1997's Batman and Robin.
Pattinson’s suit in The Batman is more grounded, but pays tribute to much of Batman’s history, with pieces reminiscent of Lee Bermejo’s design, Batman: Zero Year, and the Batman: Arkham games. However, there’s no denying the appearance of the stealth suit above, which is arguably a perfect marriage of old and new. Being that Pattinson’s Batman is still figuring things out, it’s likely that his suit will evolve in The Batman 2 and other potential sequels.
